Devotional: Genesis 3:10

“And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

Genesis 3:10

Reflection

In Genesis 3:10, Adam's raw confession, "I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself," resonates deeply with the human experience. Sin often leaves us feeling exposed, vulnerable, and ashamed. We try to cover up our mistakes, hide our imperfections, and retreat from God, much like Adam hid among the trees. Yet, in this very moment of fear and hiding, God's voice still calls, not with condemnation, but with a desire for relationship. He wasn't surprised by Adam's nakedness, nor is He surprised by ours. His call is an invitation to step out of the shadows of shame and into His loving embrace. Today, whatever you're hiding, whatever makes you feel exposed, remember that God sees you, loves you, and is calling you to surrender your fears to Him. He offers covering, not just physical, but spiritual, for your heart and soul.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we confess that like Adam, we often hide from you in our fear and shame. We try to cover our nakedness, both physical and spiritual, with our own efforts. Forgive us for running from your loving presence. Help us to hear your voice calling us out of the shadows, reminding us of your unconditional love and grace. Give us the courage to lay bare our hearts before you, trusting that you will not condemn us but will clothe us with your righteousness. Thank you for always seeking us, even when we hide. Amen.
