Devotional: Genesis 3:11
“And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?”
Genesis 3:11
Reflection
In Genesis 3:11, God's question to Adam, "Who told thee that thou wast naked?" speaks volumes about the enemy's tactics. Sin introduced shame and fear, feelings Adam didn't experience before. We, too, often find ourselves feeling 'naked' – exposed, inadequate, or ashamed – because of voices other than God's. The enemy whispers lies, reminding us of our past mistakes, our perceived failures, or our unworthiness. These accusations are designed to separate us from God's loving presence and the truth of who we are in Christ. But just as God sought Adam out, He seeks us. He desires to uncover where those feelings of shame truly originate. Is it from His Word, or from the lies of the world or the accuser? Let's choose today to listen only to the voice of our loving Father, who clothes us in righteousness and reminds us of our true identity in Him, regardless of circumstance.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts open and humble. Forgive us for listening to the voices that tell us we are not enough, that we are naked or ashamed. Help us to discern Your voice above all others, the voice that speaks love, truth, and grace. Remind us, Lord, that in You, we are clothed in righteousness and dignity. Free us from the shame that binds us and lead us into the abundant life You have for us. May our ears only be attuned to Your perfect and loving wisdom. Amen.
