Devotional: Genesis 3:22
“And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:”
Genesis 3:22
Reflection
Genesis 3:22, though a stark reminder of humanity's fall, also subtly points to God's unwavering love and protective hand. When Adam and Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they grasped a corrupted form of wisdom, detaching themselves from God's perfect design. God, in His mercy, prevented them from also eating from the tree of life in their fallen state. Imagine perpetual life in brokenness and sin – an eternity of suffering without hope! This wasn't a punishment driven by anger, but an act of profound love. It's a powerful lesson for us today: sometimes God’s 'no' or His redirection is an act of grace, preserving us from even greater harm or leading us to a better path we couldn't see. Let's trust His divine wisdom, even when we don't understand the immediate reason, knowing His ultimate plan is always for our good and His glory.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, acknowledging Your profound wisdom and boundless love. Thank You for Your protection, even when we don't fully comprehend Your ways. Help us to trust Your guidance, especially when our desires clash with Your divine will. Give us the discernment to differentiate between worldly knowledge and true wisdom that comes from You. May our choices always align with Your perfect plan, leading us closer to Your everlasting grace and love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Love, Rick & Marie Alice
