Devotional: Mark 3:34

Imagine Jesus, surrounded by a crowd, hearing that His mother and brothers are outside. Instead of simply greeting them, He gazes at those seated around Him and declares, "Behold my mother and my brethren!" This isn't a dismissal of His earthly family, but a profound redefinition of belonging. Jesus expands the circle of His family to include all who do the will of God. This challenges our often-narrow definitions of family, community, and even church. It reminds us that our deepest connection with God, and with one another, comes through our obedience and commitment to His purposes. Today, let's reflect on who we consider our spiritual family. Are we living in a way that truly reflects this divine kinship, embracing those around us in the same loving, inclusive spirit as Christ?

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the incredible privilege of being called Your children through Christ. Soften our hearts to recognize our true spiritual family, those who seek to do Your will. Help us to live in a way that demonstrates Your love and acceptance to all, breaking down any barriers we might place around our definitions of kinship. May our lives reflect this profound truth, bringing glory to Your name as we embrace and serve one another, unified in purpose and in Spirit. Amen.
