Devotional: Deuteronomy 29:11

“Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:”

Deuteronomy 29:11

Reflection

Deuteronomy 29:11 beautifully illustrates God's inclusive heart. When Moses addressed the Israelites, he didn't just speak to the leaders or the warriors; he included everyone – from the most vulnerable to the most humble servants. This reminds us that in God's eyes, every single person has value and belongs within His covenant and community. We often, consciously or unconsciously, categorize people based on status, ability, or background. But God sees the person, the soul, that He created. This verse calls us to embrace a similar perspective in our own lives and churches. Who are the 'strangers' or the 'hewers of wood' in our lives? Let's extend warmth, inclusion, and love, recognizing that to God, there are no 'small' people in His kingdom. Everyone matters, and everyone is seen.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your boundless love and Your inclusive heart, so wonderfully displayed in Your Word. Forgive us for the times we have overlooked or undervalued those around us. Open our eyes, Lord, to see each person as You see them – precious and made in Your image. Help us to extend Your warmth, Your grace, and Your welcome to everyone we encounter, whether they are close to us or a 'stranger in our camp.' May our lives reflect Your inclusive love, making all feel seen, valued, and belonging in Your kingdom. Amen.
