Devotional: Genesis 14:15

Genesis 14:15 paints a picture of Abraham, a man of faith, rising to defend his family. When Lot was captured, Abraham didn't hesitate. He wasn't a trained warrior, yet he gathered his household and bravely pursued a formidable enemy under the cover of night. This verse reminds us that sometimes, in our lives, we face situations that demand courage beyond our natural abilities. It might be a challenging conversation, a struggle against temptation, or a stand for what is right in a difficult environment. Like Abraham, we are not alone. God equip us, often using the resources and people He has already placed in our lives. We are to act in faith, trusting that He will empower our efforts, even when the odds seem stacked against us. Don't underestimate the power of your obedient action, empowered by God, to bring about deliverance and victory in your own 'night battles.'

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the example of Abraham's courage and swift action. There are times in our lives, Lord, when we face overwhelming challenges and feel ill-equipped. We pray for Your strength and wisdom to rise to these occasions, just as Abraham did. Help us to recall the resources and people You have blessed us with, and to act decisively in faith. Grant us the courage to pursue what is right, to protect those we love, and to overcome the 'battles' that come our way, trusting in Your mighty hand to lead us to victory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
