Devotional: John 10:31

Imagine the scene: Jesus, speaking words of life, love, and truth, yet met with such hostility. John 10:31 records a jarring moment where the Jews 'took up stones again to stone him.' It wasn't the first time, and it wouldn't be the last, that Jesus faced such fierce opposition. This verse reminds us that walking in God's truth often attracts resistance, even outright hostility. Perhaps you've felt this in your own life – when you stand firm in your faith, or speak truth in a difficult situation, and are met with anger or rejection. It can be disheartening, even frightening. But remember, if they rejected the Master, they will reject the servants. Let this verse encourage you to persevere. Your faithfulness, even in the face of 'stones,' is a testament to the God who first faced those stones for you. Don't let the world's hostility silence your witness or diminish your truth.

Heavenly Father, we come before You, humbled by the persecution Your Son endured for our sake. We pray for strength and courage when we face opposition for standing firm in Your truth. Help us to remember that Your approval is the only one that truly matters. Guard our hearts against bitterness and give us grace to respond with love, even when others cast stones of rejection or criticism. May our lives always reflect Your light, no matter the darkness around us. Amen.
