Devotional: Colossians 3:3

Colossians 3:3 offers a profound truth that can radically reorient our perspective. When we accepted Christ, we didn't just add a new belief system; we underwent a spiritual transformation so complete that Paul declares we are 'dead' to our old selves. This isn't a morbid statement, but a liberation! Our true life, our real identity, is now 'hid with Christ in God.' This means our deepest security, our ultimate purpose, and our eternal hope are not found in the fleeting circumstances of this world, but in the unshakeable reality of God Himself. When anxieties mount, or the world tries to define us by our failures or successes, we can rest in this divine hiding place. Our true self is safe, secure, and eternally loved, tucked away in the very heart of God through Christ. This truth empowers us to live boldly, knowing our worth isn't contingent on external validation, but on our unbreakably linked identity with our Savior. What a comforting and empowering reality to embrace today!

Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible truth of Colossians 3:3. Thank You that my old self is dead, and my true life is hidden with Christ in You. Help me to grasp the depth of this security and to live from this place of divine belonging. When the world dictates my worth or tries to pull me away, remind me where my real identity lies. Strengthen me to walk with confidence, knowing I am eternally safe in Your loving embrace. I pray for a deeper understanding of what it means to be truly alive in Christ, and to reflect that life to those around me. Amen.
