Devotional: Exodus 15:1
“Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.”
Exodus 15:1
Reflection
Exodus 15:1 bursts with the exhilaration of victory! Imagine the scene: the Red Sea parted, God's people walked on dry ground, and their oppressors were swallowed by the waves. This was not just a narrow escape; it was a miraculous triumph. Moses and the Israelites, witnessing God's raw power and faithfulness, couldn't help but sing. Their song wasn't a request; it was a proclamation of praise for what God had *already done*.
In our own lives, we face our 'Red Sea moments' – seemingly insurmountable obstacles, overwhelming anxieties, or crushing losses. It's easy to focus on the 'sea' and forget the One who can part it. This verse reminds us that even before the full deliverance, we can look back and recognize where God has triumphed gloriously in our past. Let us cultivate a heart of worship, even in the midst of our present struggles, knowing that the same God who delivered Israel is active in our lives, capable of glorious triumph over any challenge we face. Our song of praise can be a powerful testimony to His unending faithfulness.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your glorious triumph in our lives. Like Moses and the Israelites, we recognize Your mighty hand that has delivered us from countless trials. Forgive us when we lose sight of Your power and grow disheartened by the 'seas' before us. Help us to remember Your past faithfulness and to sing praises for Your unfailing love. Strengthen our faith, Lord, that we may trust You with every challenge, knowing that You are able to achieve glorious victory. May our lives be a song of thanksgiving to You, our magnificent God. Amen.
Love, Rick & Marie Alice
