Devotional: 2 Timothy 4:21
“Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.”
2 Timothy 4:21
Reflection
In 2 Timothy 4:21, we hear Paul's urgent plea to Timothy: "Do thy diligence to come before winter." This isn't just a casual request; it's a reflection of Paul's pressing need for companionship and Timothy's presence. As winter approached, travel would become difficult, and Paul, perhaps anticipating his own end, desired one last fellowship with a dear brother in Christ. This verse reminds us of the value of intentional connection. Are there 'winters' approaching in our own lives or the lives of those we love, moments when the opportunity for connection might close? This isn't about fear, but about prioritizing relationships and seizing opportunities to encourage, support, and simply be present for one another. Let's not procrastinate in showing love and building up our community, for the seasons of life change quickly.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of fellowship and the brethren You place in our lives. Help us, like Paul, to value these connections deeply and to be diligent in nurturing them. Soften our hearts to recognize the 'winters' approaching, the moments when You call us to reach out, to be present, and to offer comfort. Grant us wisdom to prioritize time with those You've given us, and the courage to act on those promptings. May our lives reflect Your love through the intentional care we show to our spiritual family. In Jesus' name, Amen.
