Devotional: 1 Peter 5:10

“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”

1 Peter 5:10

Reflection

Life often presents us with seasons of suffering, challenges, and trials that can leave us feeling weary and broken. In those moments, it's easy to question God's presence or purpose. But 1 Peter 5:10 offers a powerful reassurance: our suffering is temporary, a 'little while.' More profoundly, it reminds us of the character of God, He is the 'God of all grace.' He doesn't just allow suffering; He uses it as a refining fire. After we've walked through the valley, He promises to 'perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle' us. This isn't just about enduring; it's about emerging more complete, more rooted, more resilient, and firmly planted in our faith. He is actively working through our struggles to conform us to His eternal glory. So, when the winds of adversity blow, remember His grace is sufficient, and His perfecting work is underway.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for being the God of all grace. We confess that at times, suffering can feel overwhelming and endless. Yet, we cling to Your promise in 1 Peter 5:10, trusting that You work all things for our good and Your glory. Perfect us, Lord, through every trial. Stablish our hearts in Your truth, strengthen our resolve to follow You, and settle our spirits in the peace that only You can give. May our lives always reflect the eternal calling You have placed upon us through Christ Jesus. Amen.
