Devotional: John 14:12

Imagine the disciples, listening intently as Jesus speaks these profound words in John 14:12. He isn't just offering comfort; He's issuing a radical call to action and revealing an astounding promise. 'Greater works than these shall he do.' What does this mean for us today? It means that through the power of the Holy Spirit, dwelling within every believer, we are empowered to continue and even expand upon the miraculous work of Christ. This isn't about outdoing Jesus, but about joining Him in His ongoing mission to bring light, healing, and truth to a broken world. It's about living out our faith with boldness, trusting that God will work through us in ways we can scarcely imagine. Let's step out in faith this week, believing that God can do extraordinary things through ordinary people who are fully surrendered to Him.

Heavenly Father, we are humbled and inspired by the promise in John 14:12. Thank you for entrusting us with the incredible privilege of carrying on Your work in the world. Forgive us for the times we have doubted our ability or shrunk back in fear. Empower us by Your Holy Spirit to live boldly, to love extravagantly, and to serve faithfully. Help us to see the opportunities You place before us and to act with courage, knowing that You are working through us to accomplish Your 'greater works.' May our lives bring glory to Your name. Amen.
