Devotional: Matthew 7:6
“Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”
Matthew 7:6
Reflection
Matthew 7:6 can sound harsh, but it's a verse about wise discernment, not judgment. Jesus isn't asking us to withhold love or the Gospel, but to understand when our efforts and sacred truths are being devalued or actively rejected. Sometimes, we pour our hearts and energy into situations or conversations where the message is not only unreceived but deliberately trampled upon, causing us unnecessary pain and depleting our spiritual resources. This verse encourages us to recognize those moments. It's about protecting the precious truths of our faith and ourselves from those who actively scorn them. This isn't about being exclusive, but about steward-shipping spiritual gifts and personal peace wisely, knowing when to step back and redirect our energy to fertile ground. Let's ask God for discernment to recognize where our 'pearls' will be valued and cherished.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, grant us wisdom and discernment, we pray. Help us to recognize the preciousness of Your truths and the sacredness of our faith. Guide us in knowing when and where to share these 'pearls,' and when it is wiser to protect them and ourselves from those who would intentionally trample upon them. Give us the courage to step back from situations that drain us and the wisdom to seek out those who are ready to receive Your word. May our efforts always align with Your divine purpose. Amen.
