Devotional: John 20:3

“Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.”

John 20:3

Reflection

Imagine the scene: chaos, rumors of an empty tomb, and the disciples, bewildered. Peter and John, upon hearing Mary Magdalene's frantic report, didn't hesitate. They "went forth" – a simple phrase, yet packed with immediate action and a desperate hope against all odds. They ran, driven by an urgent need to verify, to see for themselves. This isn't just a historical anecdote; it's a profound challenge to us today. How often do we hear whispers of God's power, or a scripture that stirs our spirit, yet hesitate to 'run forth' toward it? Do we stay rooted in our comfort zones, or do we, like Peter and John, move towards the unknown with a blend of faith and fervent curiosity? May our response to God's word and His amazing works be marked by a willing, urgent spirit to seek Him out, even when the path is unclear.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the example of Peter and John, who, in their confusion and grief, still rushed to the tomb. Grant us a similar urgency in our faith, a readiness to 'go forth' when Your Spirit calls. Help us to shed our doubts and hesitations, and to move towards You with expectant hearts, even when the truth is yet to be fully revealed. May our desire to see Your truth manifested in our lives propel us forward, trusting in Your divine plan and unwavering love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
