Devotional: Luke 24:24

“And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.”

Luke 24:24

Reflection

Imagine the disciples, hearts sinking with each step towards the tomb. They had heard the women's incredible story – an empty tomb! But as Luke 24:24 tells us, even after seeing the empty sepulchre, 'him they saw not.' This journey from hearing a promise to seeing the evidence, yet still not grasping the full truth, resonates deeply with our own faith walk. How often do we encounter God's promises, perhaps even see the evidence of His work in our lives or the world, yet still struggle to fully see Him? We might be searching in the wrong places, or our expectations might be blinding us to the miraculous. Like these disciples, we need the ongoing encounter with the living Christ to open our eyes and fill our hearts with understanding and joy. Don't stop at the empty tomb; keep seeking His presence, for He is always near, waiting to reveal Himself.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You, often like the disciples at the tomb – hearing, seeing, but sometimes still not fully perceiving. Open our eyes, Lord, to see You in every circumstance. Help us to move beyond mere evidence to a living, vibrant encounter with Your Son, Jesus Christ. When doubt clouds our vision, remind us of Your power and presence. Strengthen our faith, that we may not just know about You, but truly know You, in Your glory and love. Amen.
