Devotional: John 21:12
“Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.”
John 21:12
Reflection
Imagine the disciples, weary from a night of fruitless fishing, and then seeing a figure on the shore. They didn't recognize Him until He performed a miracle, much like the first time He called them. Then, the simple invitation: "Come and dine." There's something profoundly intimate and reassuring about this. Jesus doesn't scold them for their doubt or their failed attempts; He simply offers nourishment and companionship. This moment reminds us that even when we feel lost, unproductive, or spiritually out at sea, Jesus is there, calling us to His table. He knows our hearts, our struggles, and our deepest needs. He doesn't demand perfect understanding or unwavering faith; He simply invites us to come and be fed, to be in His presence, and to experience His unwavering love and grace. What a comfort to know He's always there, waiting to nourish our souls.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the tender and persistent call of Jesus in our lives. Like the disciples by the sea, we often feel lost or inadequate, yet You continually invite us to come and dine with You. Help us to always recognize Your hand, even when circumstances are unclear. Strengthen our faith, Lord, that we may always run to Your open arms, trusting in Your provision and love. May we find our true sustenance and peace in Your presence, today and always. Amen.
Love, Rick & Marie Alice
