Devotional: Zephaniah 3:12

“I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the LORD.”

Zephaniah 3:12

Reflection

Zephaniah's prophecy speaks of a remnant, a people stripped of pride and worldly reliance, who would find their sole hope and trust in the name of the Lord. In our own lives, God often allows us to experience periods of 'affliction' or 'poverty' – not necessarily financial, but perhaps emotional, spiritual, or relational. These challenging times, though difficult, serve a divine purpose: to prune away our self-sufficiency and redirect our gaze fully to Him. When we are humbled and recognize our profound need for God, our trust in Him deepens. It's in our perceived weaknesses that His strength truly shines through. Embracing this truth allows us to navigate life's storms with a quiet confidence, knowing that our anchor is firmly set in the unwavering character and faithfulness of our Lord.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your profound wisdom, even in times of difficulty. Forgive us when we lean on our own understanding or seek security in earthly things. Help us to embrace the humbling moments in our lives, knowing they draw us closer to You. Strengthen our trust, Lord, that even in our affliction, our hearts would turn fully to Your name. May our reliance on You be unwavering, for You alone are our comfort and our hope. Amen.

Love, Rick & Marie Alice
