Devotional: Genesis 12:6
“And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.”
Genesis 12:6
Reflection
Genesis 12:6 offers a profound glimpse into Abram's journey of faith. As he steps out in obedience, God’s promise unfolds, yet the reality of his surroundings is stark: 'the Canaanite was then in the land.' This isn't just geographical detail; it's a spiritual truth. Often, when God calls us to something new – a new career, a challenging ministry, a difficult conversation – we expect immediate ease. But like Abram, we often find ourselves in 'occupied territory,' facing opposition, doubt, or discomfort.

Abram's faith wasn't blind to the obstacles; it saw beyond them, trusting in God's presence and ultimate provision. What 'Canaanites' are in your promised land today? Don't let their presence deter you. God's call always comes with His sustaining power. Keep walking by faith, for He who promised is faithful, even when the path is challenging.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your faithful guidance, just as You guided Abram. We confess that sometimes, when You lead us into new territory, we become discouraged by the 'Canaanites' – the challenges and obstacles that seem to occupy our path. Strengthen our faith, Lord, to trust in Your presence and power, even when our surroundings feel hostile. Help us to fix our eyes on You, knowing that Your promises are greater than any difficulty. May we walk in obedience and courage, sustained by Your unfailing love. Amen.
