Devotional: John 6:30
“They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?”
John 6:30
Reflection
Imagine the scene: Jesus has just fed thousands with a few loaves and fish, yet many are still asking for more proof. In John 6:30, the crowd demands, "What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee?" It's a stark reminder of our human tendency to constantly seek validation and tangible evidence, even when God's miraculous provision is staring us in the face.

How often do we do the same? We pray for guidance, receive a clear answer, and then hesitate, wondering if it's 'really' from God. We experience His faithfulness in small ways, but when confronted with a larger challenge, we find ourselves asking for another sign. This verse challenges us to cultivate a deeper trust. Instead of demanding more miracles, perhaps we should reflect on the countless unspoken blessings and answered prayers already present in our lives. Let's strive to see His hand in the everyday, cultivating a heart of belief that doesn't constantly require a new spectacle, but rather rests in the truth of who He is and what He has already done.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we confess our human tendency to seek constant signs and proof, even after witnessing your mighty hand at work. Forgive us for our moments of doubt and our cravings for tangible evidence. Open our spiritual eyes, Lord, that we may discern your presence and provision in the ordinary moments of our lives. Help us to cultivate a heart of unshakeable faith, one that trusts in your character and your eternal truth, even when the path ahead seems unclear. Strengthen our belief, dear God, so that we may walk confidently in your will, knowing that you are always working for our good. Amen.
