Devotional: Galatians 6:14

“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”

Galatians 6:14

Reflection

In Galatians 6:14, Paul declares a powerful principle that reorients our entire perspective: 'But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.' This verse challenges us to consider where our true glory lies. Do we find it in our achievements, our possessions, our status, or the approval of others? Paul urges us to fix our gaze solely on the cross of Christ. It's at the cross that our old self, entangled with worldly desires and ambitions, is put to death. It's at the cross that we recognize the profound, undeserved love of God that redeems and transforms us. When we glory in the cross, the world's allure loses its grip, and our hearts become attuned to kingdom values. Let's intentionally re-center our lives today, finding our deepest joy and purpose not in fleeting earthly things, but in the eternal triumph of Christ's sacrifice.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, reflecting on the profound truth of the cross. Forgive us for the times we seek glory in worldly things, for allowing fleeting successes or others' opinions to define us. Help us, by Your Holy Spirit, to truly glory in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. May its power crucify the world's influence in our lives and align our hearts fully with Your will. Thank You for this ultimate act of love and redemption. Amen.
