Devotional: 1 John 3:10
“In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”
1 John 3:10
Reflection
First John 3:10 offers a stark but compassionate invitation to self-reflection. It's not about judgment, but rather about discerning whose character we are reflecting. Are we practicing righteousness, striving to live in alignment with God's will? Do we genuinely love our brothers and sisters, extending grace, forgiveness, and practical care? This verse cuts to the core, reminding us that faith isn't just about what we believe, but how we live. When we falter, it's an opportunity to turn back to God, confess our shortcomings, and seek His strength to grow. Our actions, especially our love for others, are profound indicators of our spiritual lineage. Let's ask God today to illuminate areas where we can better reflect His righteousness and love.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You, humbled by the truth of Your Word. Help us to examine our hearts and our actions against the standard of Your righteousness and love. Forgive us where we have fallen short, where our deeds haven't honored You, or where our love for others has waned. Strengthen us, Lord, by Your Holy Spirit, to live lives that clearly demonstrate we are Your children. May our words and actions be a testimony to Your grace, especially in how we treat those around us. Amen.
