Devotional: Joshua 1:7
“Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.”
Joshua 1:7
Reflection
Joshua 1:7 isn't just about military strategy; it's a profound call to unwavering faith in our daily battles. God encourages Joshua, and us, to be "strong and very courageous." This isn't a call to self-reliance, but to rely on God's strength within us to consistently follow His Word. Life constantly presents crossroads, tempting us to deviate from God's path, whether subtly to the 'right hand' of legalism or overtly to the 'left' of compromise. The promise tied to this obedience is holistic prosperity – not just material wealth, but well-being, peace, and purpose in every area of our lives. Today, let's remember that the courage God asks for is the courage to trust His instructions implicitly, knowing that His way is always the best way, leading to true flourishing.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word and the example of Joshua. Grant me the strength and courage to observe Your commands each day. Help me to resist the pull to turn from Your path, whether subtly to the right or to the left. May Your Spirit guide my steps and my decisions, so that I may truly prosper in all You call me to do. I pray for a heart that seeks to honor You above all else. Amen.
