Devotional: Deuteronomy 6:4

Deuteronomy 6:4, often called the Shema, is a foundational truth for our faith: "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD." In a world filled with distractions and competing allegiances, this verse calls us back to singularity. It reminds us that our God is not just *a* god among many, but the *one* true God, undivided in His nature and purpose. This isn't just a theological statement; it's an invitation to focus our hearts, minds, and strength on Him alone. When we truly grasp His oneness, our worship becomes deeper, our trust more steadfast, and our lives more integrated. Let this truth anchor you today, recognizing that all good things flow from this one glorious source.

Heavenly Father, we humble ourselves before You, the one true God. We acknowledge Your singularity and sovereignty, and we confess that too often our hearts are divided. Forgive us for allowing distractions and idols to compete for the devotion that is rightly Yours alone. Help us to truly hear and internalize this foundational truth, that You are our God, and You are one. May this understanding unify our thoughts, purify our desires, and strengthen our walk with You, today and always. Amen.
