Devotional: Hebrews 13:24

Hebrews 13:24 offers a beautiful glimpse into the early church's interconnectedness. Paul, or whoever authored this letter, emphasizes a simple yet profound act: greeting others. This isn't just a polite social custom; it's an acknowledgment, a recognition of shared faith and community. 'Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints.' This reminds us to honor and appreciate those in leadership within our spiritual communities, and to lovingly acknowledge all fellow believers. The added detail, 'They of Italy salute you,' highlights the global reach of God's family, even then. In our often isolated world, this verse calls us to intentional connection, to reaching out and affirming our brothers and sisters in Christ. Who can you reach out to today, offering a word of encouragement or a simple greeting, reminding them they are seen and valued in the body of Christ?

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of community and the family of faith. Help us to cultivate hearts that are quick to acknowledge and appreciate those You've placed in leadership over us, and to lovingly embrace all our brothers and sisters in Christ. May our greetings and interactions be filled with Your grace and Spirit, reflecting the unity You desire for Your church. Strengthen our bonds of fellowship, near and far, so that Your love may be evident to all. Amen.
