Devotional: Daniel 3:12

“There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.”

Daniel 3:12

Reflection

Daniel 3:12 introduces us to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, three men who stood firm in their convictions against tremendous pressure. They had been entrusted with positions of power, yet when commanded to worship a golden image, their loyalty remained with the One True God. Their accusers highlight their refusal, stating, “these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image.” Their unwavering stance reminds us of the constant pull we feel between worldly expectations and divine allegiance. In our own lives, we face moments where compromises seem easy, where going with the flow feels safer. But just like these three men, we are called to a higher standard. Will we prioritize God's will above all else, even when it’s uncomfortable or unpopular? Let their example encourage us to live with bold faith, knowing that our ultimate regard is for the King of Kings, not any earthly power.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the inspiring example of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Grant us the courage and conviction to stand firm in our faith, just as they did. Help us to never compromise Your truth for worldly acceptance or gain. Strengthen our resolve to honor You above all else, even when faced with pressure or adversity. May our lives always reflect our devotion to You, our King and our God. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Love, Rick & Marie Alice
