Devotional: Daniel 3:9

The courtiers’ declaration to King Nebuchadnezzar, 'O king, live for ever,' highlights a common human desire for immortality, power, and lasting influence. We, too, often seek permanence in fleeting things – careers, possessions, or even relationships. We strive for a legacy that will 'live forever.' However, the Bible consistently reminds us that true eternal life and enduring significance are found not in earthly achievements, but in our relationship with the one true King, God Himself. Earthly kings and their kingdoms fade, but God's reign is everlasting. This verse encourages us to shift our focus from temporary pursuits to investing in what truly lasts: a life lived for Christ, rooted in His eternal truth and love. When we do, our lives, though finite on earth, gain an eternal purpose and impact.

Heavenly Father, we confess our often misplaced desire for worldly permanence and recognition. Forgive us for seeking life in fleeting things. Help us to remember that true, everlasting life and meaning are found only in You. Guide our hearts and minds to focus on Your eternal kingdom and purposes. May our days be lived in a way that honors You, the King who truly lives forever. Strengthen us to build a legacy not of earthly accolades, but of faithful service to You. Amen.
