Devotional: 2 Timothy 1:17

In 2 Timothy 1:17, we witness a beautiful testament to faithful friendship and diligent love. Onesiphorus, upon arriving in Rome, didn't just casually look for Paul; he 'sought me out very diligently, and found me.' Imagine Paul, likely imprisoned and facing hardship, feeling isolated in a vast city. Then, a familiar face, a devoted friend, actively and persistently searches for him. This wasn't a convenient encounter, but a determined quest driven by genuine care. It reminds us of the power of active love – the kind that goes out of its way, overcoming obstacles, to connect with and minister to others. Are we like Onesiphorus, diligently seeking out those who might be hurting or in need of encouragement? Or are we waiting for others to come to us? Let this verse inspire us to be proactive in showing God's love, pursuing connection, and being a source of comfort to those around us, just as Onesiphorus was to Paul.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the example of Onesiphorus, whose diligent search brought comfort to Paul. Grant us hearts that are willing to seek out those who are lost, lonely, or in need of encouragement. Give us the persistence to overcome obstacles and the genuine love that drives us to connect with others, reflecting Your own persistent love for us. Help us to be Your hands and feet in the world, actively pursuing opportunities to share Your grace and support our brothers and sisters in Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.
